It’s hard to believe, but we’re already seeing a lot of Christmas decorations and lights coming up, and not just in the shops – I’ve noticed a few houses in town with lovely displays that indicate our neighborhood is getting into the holiday spirit as well! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and soon the hectic yearly Christmas season will be in full force. There is always so lot to do at this time of year, but we should all take a break from all of the planning, preparing, cooking, and other required tasks for some fun and a little bit of magic! Make a note in your calendars now for all of the fantastic, family-friendly activities that are just around the bend, all of which are sure to provide you with many fond memories.
Visit the new Atascadero Fall Festival, which will be a free-admission, three-day, fun-filled event held at Sunken Gardens from Nov. 19 to the 21st, ahead of this year’s Thanksgiving holiday. There will be plenty of great music with over 20 live bands performing on two stages, as well as carnival rides and games, Street Faire vendors, food trucks, and local craft beers available at multiple locations throughout the event, and everyone will want to ride the Ferris wheel in front of Historic City Hall! This new event is building up to be a great show-stopper! Please be informed that there will be street closures in the Sunken Gardens downtown area from 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 18th, through late Sunday, August 21st, to allow for event preparation, setup, the three-day event, and cleaning.
You won’t want to miss our 2nd Annual Holiday Trail of Lights Tour Map, which will show you just where to go for an evening drive or neighborhood walk to view all of the beautifully adorned local houses, which will put everyone in the holiday mood! We’re going to get through this together, Atascadero
On Friday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., our annual Light Up the Downtown Holiday Lighting ceremony will take place at City Hall, Sunken Gardens, and throughout downtown Atascadero. You can sip and shop with the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce’s ever-popular Art, Wine & Brew Tour starting at 5:30 p.m.; then, at 6 p.m., everyone will gather in the Sunken Gardens area in front of Historic City Hall as we count-down to the beautiful holiday lighting of City Hall (visit atascaderochamber.org for ticket information). Santa and Mrs. Claus will come in our historic Model-A fire truck, and children will be able to meet them at the North Pole entrance, which is situated on the Lewis Avenue side of City Hall, just across from Atascadero Middle School. There will be live Christmas music, free hot cocoa, Model-A fire engine rides, and Harris State Lines’ gratis hayrides!
Sunken Gardens and the whole city will be converted into a magnificent, snowy wonderland on Friday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. for the immensely popular Winter Wonderland event! We’ll have over 65 tons of snow for the enormous snow pile play areas, and the Atascadero Kiwanis will construct a giant snow slide. Many downtown businesses, as well as various artisan and food sellers, will be open. The Elks Club will operate Joe’s Little Train, and it’s said that Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Winter Wonderland as well, with Santa maybe taking a spin down the snow-slide!
Bring the entire family to the Charles Paddock Zoo for some Holiday Magic on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. That day, our great Zookeepers will be turned into Santa’s Elves to help our animal residents receive their very unique Christmas goodies and presents!
Then, just as the holidays and season’s activities are winding down, we’re thrilled to announce the 6th Annual Tamale Festival, which will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2022! MC Francisco Ramirez, Medina Light Show Designs, a wide range of fun and exciting music, including Mariachi bands, the Folkloric Dancers, and the Famous Dancing Horses, will all be part of the festival, which will feature over 30 vendors with plenty of appetizing and tantalizing tamales. This fun event is free to attend and enjoy the performance, but don’t forget to bring your pocketbook to buy lots of tasty tamales, other delicious food, and amazing items!
Please keep in mind that both Winter Wonderland and Tamale Festival still need merchants and volunteers! Visitatascadero.com or contact [email protected] for a complete list of future events.
I hope that everyone is able to take some time away from their year-end duties to attend at least a few of these amazing activities, and that everyone has a genuinely fantastic Christmas season.

The New Orleans Saints face the Buffalo Bills in the Thanksgiving Day finale, which is a crucial clash for both teams. After being blasted out by the Indianapolis Colts, Josh Allen and the Bills are attempting to rebound.
The Saints are coming off a setback to the Philadelphia Eagles, courtesy of Jalen Hurts. Both sides will now have to wait until the evening to play in the Superdome.
Unfortunately, the Saints have a number of challenges to deal with in this game, some of which might jeopardize their hopes of reaching the playoffs.
Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram both missed practice, adding to the Saints’ injury list.

On Tuesday, the Saints injury report was far from positive. Alvin Kamara sat out the game against the Eagles and is virtually set to sit out the Thanksgiving clash as well.
Mark Ingram filled in well for Kamara, gaining over 100 total yards and a touchdown. He is, however, on the injury report. If Ingram is unable to go, Tony Jones will most likely benefit the most.
After the Eagles beat the Saints, tight end Adam Trautman was put on Injured Reserve, while Ryan Ramczyk and Marcus Davenport are on the decline.
Unfortunately, this puts even more on on either Trevor Siemian or Taysom Hill, who just signed a new deal.
After the Eagles game, the Saints lost another offensive lineman in what has been an unprecedented number of injuries in New Orleans.
Another #Saints O-line injury: Landon Young, a rookie, is set to have season-ending foot surgery, according to a source.
Young earned his first NFL start at left tackle on Sunday, and he managed to play almost half of the game *after* the injury. Tough guy who performed well under difficult conditions.

Not to mention the fact that Michael Thomas and Jameis Winston are both gone for the season. Overall, Sean Payton’s job is becoming more harder.
The injury report for the Bills ahead of the Thanksgiving matchup is the polar opposite.
In terms of injuries, the Bills are in the opposite predicament. The Bills had just two players mentioned on Wednesday’s injury report, both as full participants.
That’s a good indication for Buffalo, who are in dire need of a win following a weird performance against the Colts. Jonathan Taylor continued his ascent in the NFL MVP rankings by scoring five touchdowns in the game.
Allen and Buffalo should have a great chance to get back on track. However, no one knows what would happen if the NFL continued to be as strange as it has been recently.
Is this the week when Allen re-enters the NFL MVP discussion? If anything, the Saints’ deficiencies should aid that case.
The Saints’ chances of making the playoffs are rapidly dwindling.

The Saints stunned Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers what feels like an eternity ago. Since beating the Bucs, the Saints have lost three consecutive games.
They were once 5-2, but are now 5-5 and have far too many injuries to keep afloat. The good news is that the Wild Card positions in the NFC are wide open.
The Saints earned the seventh seed in the Thanksgiving game versus the Bills, despite their 5-5 record. The Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers are both 5-5, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers are both 5-6.
To be honest, any of these teams can make the playoffs, but the Saints’ tremendous quantity of injuries will be a difficult hurdle to overcome.
Things will get much more difficult for Payton and the Saints if Kamara and others continue to miss time.
Pro Football Reference provided the statistics.

For your winter meditations, stretching sessions, and toasty Savasanas, you’ll need some practical and comfortable clothing. Continue reading because in this piece, I’ll be discussing an Organic Basics sustainable sweatsuit that will not only keep you warm this winter, but will also brighten those dreary winter days with its gorgeous sunny hue.

Worldwide shipping is offered, with free international delivery (customs and duties not included)
re-usable packaging
The OB package is always a ten on a scale of one to ten. It’s not only carbon-neutral, but it’s also completely plastic-free. My item was sent in a large carton box constructed from FSC-certified cardboard. The box may be recycled or, better yet, used as a storage container for minor household things.
The greatest part is that everything came in a lovely reusable dust bag. These are always useful in any home and may be used to store underwear or socks. The dustbags will most likely be used to store my toddler’s toys or pencils.
Natural and non-toxic fabric
The sweat set is composed of 100% GOTS certified cotton, which indicates it was cultivated without the use of any hazardous chemicals in an ethical manner.
If you didn’t know, regular cotton may be rather unpleasant. Pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and petroleum-based fertilizers are just a few of the chemicals sprayed on what will eventually become your shirt, sweatpants, or underwear. You may learn more about the negative effects of conventional cotton by clicking here.
These sweatpants are created in a plant that is 70% powered by renewable energy in Perelhal, Portugal. By 2030, the plant intends to have zero carbon emissions. Here are some interesting information regarding OB’s sustainability efforts and partner manufacturers.
On the exterior, the material is really soft, but it’s even better on the inside. It’s really fluffy and fuzzy, and it feels like the softest winter blanket you’ve ever felt. It not only provides excellent comfort, but it also contributes to the warmth.
Timeless Basics in Design and Sizing
Both the hoodie and sweatpants are available in five sizes, with women’s sweatshirts ranging from S to XL and men’s sweatpants ranging from S to XXL. There are four hues to choose from, including a basic navy and grey.
In my activewear and loungewear, I usually wear an XS; you can see my dimensions in the box below. I went with a S sweater and an XS pair of sweatpants for a little bigger fit.
By the way, if you’re buying a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, you may pick the size and color for each item individually.
MEASUREMENTS MADE BY ME (I generally wear XS)
* Height: 158 centimeters (5.1 feet)
* Chest measurement: 78 cm / 30.7 in
* Underband of bra: 73 cm / 28.7 in
* Waist measurement: 66 cm / 25.9 in
* Hips: 33.8 in / 86 cm
For both sweatpants and a sweatshirt, I chose a Mustard hue. Its brightness is ideal for dreary winter days and chilly winter days. In actual life, the color is identical to that on the screen. It’s a rich yellow-mustard hue that looks well with black, grey, burgundy, and blue.
The sweatshirt’s style is both simple and classic. The sweatshirt boasts a ribbed collar, sleeves, and bottom, as well as a lovely side slit design.
The sweatpants also have ribbed cuffs and a drawstring clasp that matches the sweatpants’ hue. There are two pockets, which come in helpful at all times. The pockets are rather deep, and they easily accommodated my 6.5-inch phone.
The tags were also linked to the size label, which I wanted to point out. You may just untie the knot instead of cutting them away. When it comes to design, these apparently trivial details are really my favorites.
The best part is that these sweatpants and a sweater are quite suitable for public use. Instead of strange stares or remarks about what the heck you’re wearing, you’ll probably receive a lot of praises.
Stylish Oversize Fit
This is how I appear in this sweatpant outfit.
I’m delighted I went up a size for the sweatshirt and went with S rather than XS since it fits slightly big, which is exactly what I wanted. It’s intended to be cropped, but because I’m short and went up a size, it sits more like a standard sweatshirt. It’s also nice to be able to raise my arms without feeling too exposed.
The ribbed bottom isn’t too tight, which isn’t often the case with sweatshirts. They make the body seem excessively boxy in my opinion. That is not the case in this instance. The sleeves are about the right length, neither too short and not too long. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the sweatshirt’s fit. It is, without a doubt, true to size.
The sweatpants, on the other hand, run a little large. These come in a size XS and are broad. I’d read online that the OB sweatpants run large, but I didn’t anticipate having so much space in my waist. It doesn’t bother me since the drawstring takes care of the problem. Keep this in mind if you want your sweatpants to remain up without having to tighten the drawstring.
There’s also good news for tall women. These sweatpants are a little on the long side. They have a 72 cm / 28 inch inseam. The bottom ribbed cuff is also rather loose, so if you’re short like me, you won’t be able to pull the cuff up higher on your leg to conceal the excess fabric since it won’t stay up. However, I’ve tried merely creasing the cuff under the arm and it works well.
Soft As A Cloud Comfort & Ease Of Movement
This outfit makes me feel extremely snug and at ease. It’s warm enough for cooler days while being breathable, unlike other polyester sweatshirts.
The cloth does not stretch much since it is made entirely of organic cotton. Because this sweat outfit is so wide and loose-fitting, it’s not a major deal for me. The seams on the pants haven’t restricted my movements in any manner. If I wanted to, I could easily stretch and squat in them. In these sweatpants, I attempted yin yoga and felt quite comfortable.
If you want a more fitted appearance, bear in mind that these sweatpants don’t stretch much.
On chilly days, this sweat suit is ideal for meditation or some yoga wheel fun.
However, there is one significant disadvantage to this softness. The fuzziness. There’s a lot of fuzz.
Cotton balls are strewn over my flat. I also found that sweatpants shed much more than sweatshirts, yet the latter leaves a lot of fuzz on my Organic Basics exercise bra and anything slightly darker.
My recommendation is to wash the set before wearing it, since the shedding should be reduced after the first wash. Also, as the fuzz is generally less obvious in bright colors, consider wearing light-colored things beneath the sweatshirt.
Final Verdict: Top-Notch Loungewear At A Fraction Of The Price
If you’re in the following categories, you’ll adore this combo of sweatpants and sweatshirt as much as I did:
- looking for comfortable loungewear that can be used for meditation, yoga, #workfromhome days, and casual walks
- attempting to purchase in a more ethical and sustainable manner
Having said that, keep searching if you’re looking for:
- favor things that are more form-fitting

Grooms, on the whole, have it easy. Traditionally, our family has not been in charge of the wedding finances or planning. And it’s generally the bride who is more concerned and involved in the outcome of the event. The groom’s sole obligation, as the old adage goes, is to arrive on time. While this is vital, grooms of the past were also accountable for more than just arriving on time. The contemporary groom also wants to be at least somewhat engaged in the planning of the big day.
While you may not be responsible for the floral arrangements, there are chores that you are competent and expected to do before to the wedding, on the big day, and afterwards. Let’s take a closer look at them with our detailed guide!
Phase of Preparation
Make the Bride’s Life Easier by Taking Action
Your fiancée will almost certainly be stressed out by wedding plans from the time you place a ring on her finger. It makes no difference if you agree with the causes of the stress; your goal is to reduce it as much as possible. If there’s anything on this list that you can handle, go ahead and do it. Even if she “allows” it, don’t leave all the arrangements to your future wife. Participate, take charge, and make your engagement a time of love, pleasure, and contemplation rather than a stressful conflict because you didn’t do your part.
Speak Out on Issues That Concern You
There are a few things that the groom is usually in charge of. We’ll come back to them later. There are additional things that the bride usually takes care of, as well as things that you both work on. You must speak out when something is significant to you at any stage of the planning process. If she doesn’t mind you viewing her gown but you’d rather wait until the big day, it’s your responsibility to let her know. If there are any aspects regarding the menu that you are concerned about, speak up. While it’s a cliché that weddings are for brides, it’s also half your party and half your marriage, and you deserve to be heard when it comes to something important to you.
Give up what isn’t important, yet provide feedback if asked.
There will be many aspects of wedding preparation on which the ordinary guy will have no opinion. There are a lot of elements that brides traditionally manage themselves, including bridesmaid attire, invitations, ceremony decor/themes/colors, and photographers (along with a planner or mother). You’re free to keep out of the way and let things happen for many of these. However, if you are requested for assistance or input, you should provide it.
Having an opinion is typically the most difficult element of this process. During the preparation of my wedding, my wife asked for my opinion on a few occasions, only to hear me answer, “I have no preference, do whatever you want.” This, in my opinion, was the correct thing to say – let her lead! But that wasn’t what she wanted; she really wanted her groom’s opinion. A woman is confronted with so many options that it may be daunting, and sometimes all she needs is a single vote to sway her to one side or the other. So offer her peace of mind by choosing whichever choice you have a minor preference for while behaving as if you’ve made up your mind.
Logistics That Should Be Agreed Upon Collectively
Certain wedding details should be decided jointly by you and your fiancée. These are some of them:
- The wedding date.
- Location. Most of the time, this is the bride’s hometown. There isn’t much you can do about it. You might even decide on a destination wedding together.
- Budget. Weddings are traditionally paid for by the bride’s family. This is progressively improving, but it is still common, particularly among younger couples who lack the financial means to have a great party. If one side of the family bears the brunt of the financial burden, they will, unsurprisingly, have a greater voice in wedding selections. If the parents are dividing the expenses, they will be given equal weight in the decision-making process. If you’re paying as a pair, you’ll have the upper hand when it comes to making choices (but parents should often be given some say just out of respect).
- Details of the ceremony.
- Religious inclinations
- Music
- Readings
- Vows
- There is a guest list. This is one of the most difficult aspects of any wedding to organize, and it could be the subject of an entire post. Recognize that the guest list is one of the most stressful aspects of the preparation process. You’ll not only have to deal with each other in selecting who makes the cut, but you’ll also have to deal with your parents’ demands. They often invite family members that you may not know well but who played a significant part in your upbringing. Just try your best to strike a balance between everyone’s desires.
- Registering. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the wedding planning process! You get to wander around with a scanning gun and shoot anything you want in shops. Make sure you provide some power tools and camping gear so she may choose her own dishes and silverware.
- Out-of-town visitors are accommodated. Either the bride or the groom can take care of this. Volunteer to help your fiancée if she feels overburdened.
In most cases, you’ll be in charge of the following: (Either Alone or Shared)
Below is a list of responsibilities that the groom is usually in charge of arranging and planning. Unless you’ve specifically agreed differently as a couple, always discuss any wedding-related choice with the bride first (as with the honeymoon, perhaps). Many of these choices may be made together, but you’ll be the one who books, coordinates, and executes them.
The groomsmen and ushers are chosen. You’ll choose the gentlemen who will stand by your side as you utter your vows after deciding how many bridesmaids/groomsmen you’ll have as a pair (usually lead by how many the bride would want on her side). Here, friends, siblings, and relatives are all popular choices. Simply choose your best man wisely; you want someone who is both fun and responsible, since he will be accountable for a variety of vital responsibilities. Another thing to keep in mind is that if the bride has any brothers, you should normally invite them.
Ushers are also a good option since they’re usually males. Keep an eye out for the groom’s male relations as well.
Dress yourself and your guys in formal attire. While what you wear will almost certainly be a mutual choice with your wife, you will be in charge of getting the gentlemen’s measurements and clothing. This is typically one of the more difficult chores since you have to plan a lot of sizings, appointments to try things on, and so on, frequently with males who don’t live in the same area. Don’t procrastinate on this one, and don’t leave it until the last minute. You don’t want to be stuck with mismatched or ill-fitting tuxes or suits (unless, of course, you’re trying for a hipster look).
Searching for a DJ or a band. You’ll probably talk about what kinds of tunes you prefer as a pair, as well as first dances, including mother/father dances. It will most likely be up to you to hire a DJ or band after that. Use particular cautious if it’s a band, and show your bride videos and samples of their music. DJs are a bit safer since they can typically play whatever you ask for. You could be tempted to save money by hiring a buddy with an iPod, but this is a hazardous move. You don’t know how crucial flow and music selection are until you’re in a scenario where you don’t have either. Take that path with caution.
Honeymoon. While many couples still choose for the groom to organize the whole honeymoon as a surprise, in today’s society, more women than not prefer to be part in the preparation. In any case, you should take the initiative on this one. This is a terrific opportunity to practice your negotiation skills: phone hotels and rental car businesses and tell them you’re planning a honeymoon, and you’ll almost certainly obtain special discounts and/or upgrades.
Dinner rehearsal. The groom’s family is usually financially responsible for the supper the night before the wedding. Guests include relatives, the wedding party, non-relatives engaged in the wedding (officiant, musicians, etc.) and anybody else your families wish to invite. The size and place (I’ve seen everything from Hooters to picnics to beautiful Italian restaurants) will be decided together, but with your family in charge.
Transportation. You’ll be in charge of organizing the wedding party’s transportation, particularly from the ceremony to the reception. This is often in the shape of a party bus or limousine, both of which are available from a plethora of providers. You and your bride will also need transportation from the reception to your house, hotel, or perhaps the airport. Most people simply want their own car, but other people want something unique.
Getting the marriage license in order. This is a point that I’ve seen overlooked many times. Marriage licenses are issued in a variety of ways by various states. However, there are a few generalizations:
- Valid identification is required to show your identity, as well as proof of age, which varies by state.
- To get your license, you’ll need to go to a government agency, usually a county clerk’s office. In certain states, both parties must be present, whereas in others, just the bride is required to be present.
- To marry you, you’ll need a certified officiant – either a cleric or a judge. Following that, both of you will sign your marriage license, making it legal in the eyes of the state. There are a few exceptions, and some states allow you to self-marry, which means you don’t need a priest or a court. It’s as simple as declaring yourself married and calling it a day. Consult your state and county’s unique marriage laws once again.
Getting your bachelor party desires out in the open. While the bachelor party will be planned by the best man, you will almost certainly be participating. Having a responsible best man comes in helpful in this situation. If you tell him what you want, he’ll most likely do the same, and you’ll have a fantastic evening. You may be particular about where you want to eat, what you want to do, and so on. You may also be more generic and tell him you want to go someplace elegant for drinks, then to a restaurant for dinner, and finally to a cigar bar. If you’re bold, you’ll delegate all of your responsibilities to the best guy. Don’t try to claim that I didn’t warn you.
The Day of the Wedding
Be present in the moment (Stay Sober)
Without a question, it is one of the most significant, meaningful, and unforgettable days of your life. It will be better if you are more present. Keep your drinking to a minimal; my advice is to figure out how much you can drink before feeling tipsy and stick to that amount. Keep your phone on you at all times, but solely for wedding-related needs; avoid ESPN and social media. Get up early and participate in the whole process; extend the day as much as possible since you’ll appreciate every moment afterwards. To keep butterflies at bay, have a nutritious breakfast. Attend each and every function on time. Make every effort to be totally present at all times.
Make Meaningful Moments a Priority and Create Them
This has to do with being present, but it also extends beyond that. Your wedding will be full with memorable moments, and as the groom, you’ll want to be aware of them as well as create some. Take advantage of these one-of-a-kind moments, whether it’s a private “first look” (a newish trend in which the bride and groom see each other for the first time before the ceremony for the sake of getting photos), your “last meal” as a bachelor, or a final conversation with your siblings, father, or best man about what this day means to you.
Give a Gift to the Bride
Many couples choose to exchange personal wedding presents in private before the ceremony. Some couples opt out of this since it is clearly an additional cost. But it’s a great touch on the big day, and it guarantees that you and your fiancée have some time to yourself to make a memorable memory (see above). It’s usual to present jewelry as a gift – something good but not too dazzling or pricey. In my view, a pearl necklace or bracelet is a fantastic choice.
Rings
Your wife will have her engagement ring, but the wedding rings are your responsibility. You’ll pass them over to your best man at some point throughout the day, who will deliver them to you during the ceremony. The closer the wedding day gets, and the fewer times the rings are exchanged, the better.
Tipping
On your wedding day, it’s typical to tip a number of suppliers. Wedding planners, DJs, flowers, photographers, and bartenders are all included. Because gratuity is often included in contracts, double-check that you aren’t tipping twice. If it isn’t, you may request that it be included to spare yourself the trouble.
If Something Doesn’t Go as Planned, De-Stress the Bride
There’s a strong chance that something unexpected may occur on the big day. Whether it’s a huge or little chore, you’ll be responsible with at least somewhat de-stressing your bride, as well as her mother and bridesmaids. You’ll have to interpret each circumstance as it arises, but tell her that no matter what happens between now and then, you’ll be husband and wife at the end of the day. Even if the day isn’t flawless, that’s what counts most — and you’ll remember it as wonderful in the end!
Groomsmen should be given thank-you gifts.
As a thank you for being a part of the big day, it’s typical for the groom to present gifts to each of his groomsmen. How much you spend is mostly determined by your financial situation and social standing. If you’re fresh out of college, $30-$50 per item should enough. If you’re a bit older and your groomsmen have flown from all over the nation on their own cash, something in the $100 range might be more suitable. If the presents are not delivered on the wedding day, the rehearsal dinner is a suitable occasion to do so.
Click here for groomsmen gift ideas that are both traditional and unusual.
Make a toast of gratitude.
Giving a toast at speech time will be one of your last tasks before you can party the night away. You’ll usually be last, and your job is simple: thank everyone who came and convey your gratitude. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, but make sure to thank the parents, the wedding party, guests who traveled a long distance, and anybody else who helped with the logistics. That’s all there is to it; there’s no need for comedy or extensive tales.
Decide who is responsible for returning groomsmen’s attire.
You’ll want to appoint someone to be in charge of returning the groomsmen suits if they’ve been leased at any point throughout the day. Having a point man guarantees that all clothes are tracked and that you aren’t penalized for missing a deadline. Your best guy is the finest choice for this. Your father is an excellent back-up.
Afterwards
Thank You Notes
It’s a big job to write thank you letters to everyone of your wedding guests, even those who didn’t attend but gave presents. Don’t entrust everything to your new wife. Splitting thank you cards between her and your side is a nice way to proceed. If you have shared friends, divide them equally unless one side of your family/friends is much bigger; in that case, the person who has the least amount of thank yous to write should volunteer.
Have fun with Wedded Bliss!
Finally, the wedding is over, you’ve settled in, and you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that your main responsibility as a couple is to just enjoy one other. While your wedding day may seem like the end of your relationship, it’s actually only the beginning!

Signing up and taking advantage of the lower monthly pricing should be no problem as long as someone is genuinely a student and can verify their status. Individuals and families seeking for a streaming service with a range of real-life material may find Discovery+ to be a suitable fit. Food Network, HGTV, ID, Discovery Channel, and more popular programs and networks are available as part of a membership. The service presently has two plan choices, with the major difference being advertisements. The Discovery+ plan with advertisements costs $4.99 per month, while the ad-free membership costs $6.99 per month.
Signing up for a student discount might help students save money on their monthly bill. The student discount effectively lowers the cost of the ad-supported Discovery+ subscription by 40%, lowering it to $2.99 per month. The first drawback to be aware of is that Discovery+ does not presently provide a student discount on the ad-free subscription. Those who wish to avoid advertisements must pay the full $6.99 per month membership fee.
What is the Discovery+ student discount and how does it work?
The Discovery+ student discount is solely accessible to students, as one would anticipate. Those who want to join up at the reduced fee must thus establish their eligibility by proving their student status. The student must first go to the Discovery+ website and click on the “Start Free Trial” option to be eligible for the discount. Discovery+ also offers a seven-day free trial, so students won’t have to pay for the service straight immediately.
Before clicking on the “Verify My Student Status” option, students must submit their first and last names, the name of their institution or university, their date of birth, and an email address as part of the registration procedure. SheerID, a third-party firm that verifies various organization memberships, including students, is in charge of the actual verification. To understand more about what data is collected and how it is used, go to the SheerID website. The student will get a discount code through email after the verification procedure is completed. After that, go to discoveryplus.com/redeem to redeem your coupon. The student will then be allowed to proceed and finish the process of signing up for the ad-supported Discovery+ plan at the discounted pricing.
Additional information may be required in certain circumstances in order to complete the verification procedure. According to Discovery+, this will often be asked in the form of evidence that proves the student’s status and is dated within the past three months.
The following are some examples of extra documentation:
- School ID with a date of expiry
- Timetable for classes
- receipt for tuition
Aside from being a student, the Discovery+ discount is only accessible to persons between the ages of 18 and 24. Existing customers will also be unable to join up for the student discount while their current membership is ongoing. Finally, one-year student memberships are available. To keep the lower pricing, students will need to re-verify their student status each year.
Summary of the Discovery+ student discount
The Discovery+ student discount, which reduces the cost of a membership from $4.99 to $2.99 per month, may be a fantastic method to save money on a subscription. Those who join up for a student discount may also get a free trial. The student discount, on the other hand, is only available for the ‘limited advertisements’ plan; there is no way to save money on an ad-free Discovery+ membership.
The user must present documentation of their student status in order to get a discount on the subscription fee. This entails supplying certain personal data, which is subsequently confirmed by a third-party provider. A student may be required to present extra documents to validate their student status and discount eligibility in certain situations.
Veteran’s Day is celebrated in Paso Robles with a drive-thru.
NORTH COUNTY, ARKANSAS — On Nov. 11, friends and family from all around North County came together to honor all of our country’s soldiers.
Nearly 1,000 people gathered at the Face of Freedom Veterans Memorial in Atascadero to remember and praise the men and women who have fought for and served our nation.
The Paso Robles District Cemetary encouraged people to travel through the cemetery grounds on Nov. 11 to see the customary Avenue of Flags for the second year in a row.
We’re going to get through this together, Atascadero
Atascadero’s rituals, conducted by KPRL’s Dick Mason, began with an exact 11:00 a.m. flyover by the Estrella Warbirds, followed by the Presentation of Colors, accompanied by Central Coast Pipes and Drums.
As Lyra Stoltz and Lucy Hope [members of the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy Honor Choir] stood in front of the Face of Freedom Memorial and sang the National Anthem, the audience remained on their feet.
“What are we doing here?” To honor veterans and to remember what they have sacrificed for us. They’ve done a fantastic job. They’ve given us what we have now, which is peace and freedom in our country.
Although it has been difficult at times, they have served, sacrificed, and accomplished a great deal,” remarked retired CDR (commander) David L. Brooks of the United States Navy Reserve (USNR) in his Invocation. “What a magnificent memorial we have here. And we’re overjoyed to be able to reflect on and recognize what the Veterans have accomplished because they’ve done so much for everyone of us,” he said.
As the Armed Forces Medley was played over the loudspeakers and Veterans from each branch of the service were requested to rise, there wasn’t a dry eye on the grass. Men and women, young and elderly, stood while their branch’s themes were performed.
Lieutenant General Scott C. Black took the floor next, emphasizing the significance of honoring our veterans. “Indeed, there have been moments in our not-too-distant history when our country’s service and uniform have not been appreciated and celebrated. “Those are the periods we should never forget,” he remarked.
Following then, Lieutenant General Black read a poem to the audience. “I’ve always carried a brief poem in my kit. To remind me of the pledge of allegiance that we owe to our veterans. And I’d want to give you a copy of that poetry. Although the poet’s identity has been lost to the centuries, the lines are nonetheless powerful and worth echoing today. It goes like this:
We admire God and the army. God is forgotten – and the soldier slighted – when difficulty arises, but not before; when trouble arises, and wrongs are righted, God is forgotten – and the soldier is slighted.
That is clearly not the situation now.”
Our local chapter, which has manufactured over 362 quilts for military personnel and Veterans in the region, also presented a group of Veterans with Quilts of Valor.
Bonnie Meyer and Leroy “Max” Bowery received Distinguished Veteran Awards from San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Debbie Arnold. During WWII, both of them served our nation in the military. Meyer made her way to deployment and arrived in Naples in 1945, and Bowery saved [then-President] George H. Bush on the high seas.
The service concluded with a wreath presentation by VFW Auxilary #2814, Darin Gong playing Taps, and The Returning of Colors.
“It [the Veterans Day Ceremony] is usually so well attended; hundreds, if not thousands, of people [showed up] here this year.” This is something that our people truly love. It’s a chance to come together and recognize and celebrate our soldiers, and it’s simply a lovely moment,” said Heather Moreno, the mayor of Atascadero.
After the ceremony, there were lots of booths to visit, as well as a free barbecue lunch sponsored by the Atascadero Kiwanis for all attending Veterans. Other participants might dine at a little fee as well.
The Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial is a magnificent spot to view local veterans honored with bricks, plaques, and sculptures. It is open all year.
Each year, the Paso Robles District Cemetary produces an Avenue of Flags that runs the length of the grounds to honor our veterans. The flags are also accompanied by a ceremony that begins at 11:00 a.m. promptly, with famous speakers, music, and a flyover by the Warbirds Museum.
The Veterans Day ceremonies, however, have been turned to drive-thru events owing to COVID.
According to Tom Flynn, the cemetery’s director, putting up their traditional ceremony takes around two months, and two months ago, a service like theirs would not have been allowed owing to COVID regulations.
“Even with COVID, we’ve managed to get the flag crew together, and we’ve always done our flag put up so that at least people can come out [and pay their respects,” Flynn adds.
According to Flynn, there are 1,200 VA (Veteran Affairs) awarded headstones at the Paso Robles District Cemetery. When privately issued veteran headstones are included, that amount rises to nearly 2,000.
According to him, the Pioneer area of the cemetery has several soldiers of the Spanish-American War.
Flags are placed on every veteran’s grave at the cemetery by volunteers from the VFW, Boy Scouts, Moose Lions Club, and other organizations.
Despite the change in plans, Flynn reports that a large number of people came out to pay their respects to our soldiers, and he hopes that the Paso Robles District Cemetery will be able to have their regular Veteran’s Day ceremony again next year.
We honor and thank you, veterans!

The Detroit Lions have had nothing but agony and anguish this season as they prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day. They haven’t won in their first 10 games of the season, and they don’t seem to be any closer to rebuilding than they were at the start of the regular season.
Despite the hype surrounding the hire of charismatic Dan Campbell, the Lions seem to be one of the worst-coached teams in the league.
The Lions’ quarterback position is a major concern, in addition to their terrible coaching.
With the Detroit Lions, Jared Goff is battling to make an impact.
Jared Goff was always seen as a product of Sean McVay’s success with the Los Angeles Rams by the majority of people. He spent much of his time with the Rams throwing check-downs, screens, and fast slants, thus he seldom showed off his top arm skill.
With that considered, no one knew how horrible Goff would appear when he arrived in Detroit during the enormous Matthew Stafford bombshell deal this past summer. The results after nine games are somewhat frightening.
Goff has had eight touchdowns and six interceptions in his career. He has a passer rating of 28th out of 34 qualifying passers and a quarterback rating of 33rd. Goff is now one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL, allowing the Lions to choose a new starter in 2022 or 2023.
A recent adjustment in the Lions’ coaching system, though, may give a ray of hope for the ailing veteran.
The Lions are pinning their troubles on offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn.
Why is Anthony Lynn still employed in Detroit if Dan Campbell has to remove his offensive coordinator of play-calling duties?
November 21, 2021 — HUGE (@Hugeshow)
Following the Lions’ humiliating draw with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11, Dan Campbell made a significant change to his coaching staff, as reported after the team’s Week 11 defeat. He removed offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn from play-calling responsibilities, putting the burden for the team’s poor performance squarely on his shoulders.
Lynn’s failure to connect and build a strong connection with Goff, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, was a major reason Campbell took over play-calling responsibilities.
According to insiders, Lynn had a hard time bonding with starter quarterback Jared Goff, and the two never truly bonded. For the winless Lions, the entire structure of the passing game, as well as game-day patterns with play-calling, has fast become a concern.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora
When questioned about it this week, Goff refuted this theory. The evidence, however, is in the pudding. Even if Goff isn’t the best quarterback in the world, McVay has shown time and time again that a successful system can be built around him. Lynn was obviously doing something incorrectly.
Jared Goff will get a second shot to prove himself.

Rather than condemning Goff for his bad performance, the Lions seem to be blaming his coach. The Lions’ significant organizational deficiencies will not be miraculously fixed by relieving Lynn of play-calling responsibilities. It does, however, provide Goff with another opportunity to show his worth as a starting quarterback in the second half.
Dan Campbell has no prior experience as a play-caller in the NFL. However, sometimes all a quarterback needs is a different voice in his headset to get things back on track.

The poem “Pioneers! O Pioneers!” was written by Walt Whitman as a tribute to the pioneers who ventured forth in pursuit of adventure and a better life and established the wilds of the American West. He lauds individuals who left the past behind to carve new lives out of the land for their rough tenacity, audacious boldness, and courageous resolve. While Whitman may have intended the poem to honor America’s Western pioneers, it is a tribute to all pioneers, past and present, from all corners of the world. It will bring joy to the heart of any guy who has rejected a life of comfort and contentment in favor of blazing his own trail and charting his own destiny in life.
The poem is enjoyable to read, but Will Greer’s performance of it (which can be heard in the current Levis advertisements – I’m not sure how Walt would feel about his poetry being exploited to market dungarees) is quite captivating. Allow the words to soak in, and wake in the morning ready to face the world with unwavering bravery and unbreakable toughness. To be a pioneer, you don’t have to cross the plains; all you have to do is choose to live your life to the fullest, with dignity, with integrity.
Pioneers! Walt Whitman’s poem “O Pioneers!”
Come, my tanned offspring, Follow the steps in the correct sequence, then prepare your weapons. Do you have your pistols? Do you have your axes with sharp edges? Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
We can’t stay here, my darlings, we have to march, we have to bear the burden of danger, we the young sinewy races, all the rest is dependent on us, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
Western youths, oh you, oh you, oh you, oh you, Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the best, Pioneers! So eager, full of activity, full of masculine pride and brotherhood, Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the best, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
Have the older races come to a halt? Do they slump and call it a day out there across the oceans, exhausted? Pioneers, we take up the everlasting duty, the weight, and the lesson! Greetings, pioneers!
We debouch onto a fresher, mightier, more diversified universe, leaving all behind. The world we grasp is new and powerful, the world of work and the march, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
We detachments threw steadily down the sides, down the passes, and up the steep heights. Pioneers, we’re conquering, holding, daring, and traveling into unexplored territory! Greetings, pioneers!
We destroying ancient trees, we stopping rivers, perplexing us and penetrating deep the mines inside, Pioneers, we’re doing surface wide surveying and virgin soil upheaving! Greetings, pioneers!
We, the Colorado guys, From the colossal peaks, the vast sierras, and the high plateaus, Pioneers, we’ve come from the mine and the gully, from the hunting path! Greetings, pioneers!
All the hands of comrades clasping, all the Southern, all the Northern, Pioneers! We are from Nebraska, Arkansas, Central interior race, from Missouri, with continental blood intervein’d, all the hands of comrades clasping, all the Southern, all the Northern, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
O restless, unyielding race! O most adored race on the face of the earth! My breasts hurt from delicate affection for everyone! Pioneers, I sorrow and yet rejoice, I am rapt with love for everyone! Greetings, pioneers!
Raise the great mistress mother, Raise the fang’d and warlike mistress, stern, impassive, weapon’d mistress, Pioneers! Waving high the delicate mistress, over all the starry mistress, (bow your heads all,) Raise the fang’d and warlike mistress, stern, impassive, weapon’d mistress, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
Look at my children, my steadfast children. We must never succumb or fail in the face of those swarming at our back. Thousands of years ago, in ghostly millions, imploring, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
On the compact ranks, and on the compact ranks, and on the compact ranks, and on the compact With accessions always on the way, and the places of the deceased swiftly filling up, Pioneers, despite fight and failure, keep marching forward and never stop! Greetings, pioneers!
To die while moving forward! Is it possible that some of us may droop and die? Is it the end of the world? Then, as we march, the fittest die, and the void is quickly filled. Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
All the world’s pulses are falling in for us, with the Western movement’s rhythm, solitary or combined, steadily marching to the front, all for us, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
The many and diverse pageants of life All the forms and displays, all the workers at work, all the sailors and farmers, all the owners with their slaves, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
Pioneers! All the unlucky silent lovers, all the inmates in jails, all the virtuous and evil, all the happy, all the sad, all the living, all the dying! Greetings, pioneers!
With my spirit and body, I, too, We, an inquisitive three, were selecting and wondering. Pioneers, across these beaches in the darkness, with the apparitions looming! Greetings, pioneers!
The darting bowling sphere, oh my! Pioneers, look about you at all the brother orbs, all the clustered suns and planets, all the sparkling days, all the mysterious nights with dreams! Greetings, pioneers!
These are among us, and they are among us, all for the sake of doing the most basic of tasks, while the following in embryo wait behind. Pioneers, we’re headed out today’s procession, and we’re paving the way for travel! Greetings, pioneers!
You girls of the West, I salute you! Greetings, young and old daughters! Greetings, moms and wives! Pioneers, you must never be split; you must always advance together in our ranks! Greetings, pioneers!
On the prairies, there are hidden minstrels! (Shrouded bards of distant places, you may rest; your labor is done.) Soon I’ll hear you warbling, soon you’ll rise and march among us, Pioneers! Greetings, pioneers!
Not for sweet delicacies, Neither the pillow nor the slipper, not the calm nor the studious, Pioneers, not the secure and paling wealth, nor the tame delight! Greetings, pioneers!
Do the feasters gorge themselves? Do the chubby sleepers get any rest? Have they secured the doors with locks and bolts? Pioneers, the hard diet and the blanket on the ground are still ours! Greetings, pioneers!
Is it the middle of the night? Wasn’t the path lately so arduous? Did we come to a halt, discouragedly bowing our heads on our way? I give you in your tracks to stop heedless, Pioneers, for another hour! Greetings, pioneers!
Until the morning call–hark!–is heard with the sound of trumpet, far, far away. Swift, how loud and clear I hear the wind! to the commander-in-chief of the army! –swift! Pioneers, spring has arrived! Greetings, pioneers!
